Training for success
Set over 250 acres, Byerley Park is one of New Zealand's leading thoroughbred training complexes offering state-of-the-art and user-friendly facilities.
The 1600m training track is supported by two lead-in tracks of 200m and 900m, totaling almost 2400m.
The pace work and gallop tracks are Woodhill sand, an exceptional surface to work on no matter the weather.
RESIDENT TRAINERS
Byerley Park is home to seven training operations. Top line gallopers Media Sensation, Crocetti, Hezashocka, Gino Severini, Sacred Satono and Desert Lightning are among the successful black-type winners to have recently been trained on the property.
Clotworthy Racing
Husband and wife duo Shaun and Emma Clotworthy are based on a beautiful section in Waiau Pa with private access to the Byerley Park training facility.
With a range of rolling and flat paddocks, covered yards, outside sand yards, horse walker, swimming pool and jumping facilities, Clotworthy Racing have everything needed to prepare horses to succeed on raceday.
Success stories to come out of the stable include Justacanta, Hezashocka and Malt Time.

Cole Racing
Steven Cole joined the New Zealand training ranks in the 2014/15 racing season and hasn't looked back since.
With 30-40 horses in work, Steven makes full use of the Byerley Park facilities to get the best from his team.
Steven is active each year at the Karaka Sales ensuring there is a steady stream of young talent in the stable.
Successful horses include Group One winner Dukedom, Group Three winner Magneto and stakes performers Mascarinto and Ohceedee.

Pinnacle Racing
Kylie Hoskin made her name predominantly as a pre-trainer and added another string to her bow when taking out her trainer license in the 2018/19 season.
A big fan of using the local Karioitahi Beach, Kylie makes the most of the local environment to ensure her team is as the top of their game both mentally and physically.

Cypress Point Stables
Jenna Mahoney has had a live long passion for horses and has a strong equestrian background with international experience including representing New Zealand at the three-day event in Adelaide.
Alongside her sport horse business Jenna has a strong reputation as a trainer, pre-trainer, Ready To Run Sale preparer and has brokered sales of many talented horses who have gone on to succeed overseas.
Jenna has produced the likes of Group Three winner Opalescence and Listed winner Rainbow Dash, plus a host of other group race winners that have been through her system.

Brookby Racing Stables
Danny Walker and Arron Tata established their training partnership in 2022 after working together for over 20 years.
With up to 20 horses in work, Danny and former jumps jockey Arron train for a range of owners and make the most of Byerley Park's facilities to ensure each horse in their care is ready to fire on raceday.
Their recent winners include G3 Northland Breeders' Stakes winner Crocetti.

Wallace & Cooksley Racing
Successful trainer Bruce Wallace and international jockey Grant Cooksley entered a training partnership in 2019 after winning Group One races on both sides of the Tasman as a trainer/jockey combination.
Since then they have had training success with the likes of multiple Group race winner Gino Severini and Group Three winner Sacred Satono.

Barbara Kennedy
Barbara Kennedy trained with success in South Africa in partnership with her brother and recorded 59 wins in three years.
She gained her New Zealand trainers license in 2024, opening her Byerley Park base in June.

Logan Racing
Donna set up her Byerley Park stable in 2024 after a successful seven-year stint in Singapore.
The accomplished Kiwi horsewoman is in rarefied air, having trained Group 1 winners in three different countries.
Donna focuses on quality over quantity and has enjoyed elite success with horses such as New Zealand Oaks winner Vapour Trail, Australian Oaks winner and Caulfield Cup runner-up Rising Romance, Rosehill Guineas winner Volkstoknbarrel and Minister, the Group 1 Kranji Mile winner of 2021.
